Flood alert for River Colne and Fenay Beck Catchments

River levels in the River Colne and Fenay Beck catchments are rising due to persistent rainfall. Levels are expected to continue to rise before peaking this evening. Flooding of low lying land is possible on 15 December 2025 until the morning of Tuesday 16 December 2025. There may be surface water flooding issues during the heavier spells of rainfall. This alert covers land around the River Colne and Fenay Beck and its tributaries including Crowhill, Slaithwaite and Wessenden. Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers. Rainfall is expected to continue until the early hours of Tuesday morning. We are not currently expecting to issue Flood Warnings, but we are monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. This message will be updated by 8:00PM on 15 December 2025 or as the situation changes.
