Flood warning for River Exe from Tiverton to Exeter, including Bickleigh

High river levels are expected to cause flooding this morning. 

Flooding is expected from the morning of 27 January 2026 . 

Heavy rain has fallen overnight.

Properties and low lying areas will start to flood from around 08:30AM on Tuesday. The main areas of concern are Bickleigh, Copenhagen, Traymill , Thorverton Mill, Nether Exe and Bampford Speke. Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in these areas.

River levels are forecast to be at their highest between 8:00AM and 04:00PM.

Flood warning area: riverside locations and roads between Tiverton and Exeter, including Bickleigh, Thorverton Mill, Nether Exe, Brampford Speke, Upton Pyne, Old Mill Trading Estate, the A396 and A3072 at Bickleigh and the Exeter to London Paddington railway line.
