Flood warning for Umborne Brook from Wilmington to Colyton

High river levels are expected to cause flooding overnight. 

Flooding is expected on 27 January 2026 . 

Heavy rain falling in the area will continue throughout the day.

Properties and low lying areas will start to flood from around 00:45AM on Tuesday. The main areas of concern are Widworthy Mill, Lexhayne Mill, Patches Cottage and the A35 trunk road at Wilmington. Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in these areas.

River levels are likely to remain high throughout the morning. 

We are monitoring rainfall and river levels . 

Never drive through flood water, just 30cm of fast flowing water is enough to move your car . Activate any flood protection products you may have.

Flood warning area: Riverside locations and roads between Wilmington and Colyton, including Umborne, Lexhayne and the A35 at Wilmington.
