Flood alert for Somerset coast at Portishead and Portbury Dock

The high tide this evening, Wednesday, may lead to flooding of roads and low lying land, but property flooding is not expected.

Highest tide level is expected to be at the coastline between Portishead Point and Avonmouth at 10:00 PM this evening, 31/03/2025. Flooding is possible for up to an hour either side of this time.

Areas most at risk include the coastline between Portishead Point and Avonmouth.

We are closely monitoring the situation and checking flood defences.

Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.

Be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads.

The detailed tidal forecast for those who use it is for a peak level at Avonmouth of 7.86 mAODN at 10:00 PM on 10/09/2025, with westerly force 5 winds. mAODN is height above average sea level.
