Flood alert for River Yeo and Parrett, Bridgwater to the Coast

Forecast rising river levels this evening may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from the evening of 20 January 2026 .
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Yeo, River Parrett, Kings Sedgemoor Drain , with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around low lying land west of the M5 to the coast, including Bridgwater and Chilton Trinity. Further rain, possibly heavy, is forecast for tomorrow and we expect rivers to respond.
We are closely monitoring the situation and clearing blockages from debris screens.
Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water . Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.
