Flood warning for Barcombe Mills on the River Ouse

The River Ouse is high and rising. 30mm of rain was recorded in the early hours of Wednesday, which is a lot in a short period of time. From 15:30 27/11/2024 flooding will affect the Anchor Inn, Anchor Lane, and be extensive through fields. Anchor Lane and Barcombe Mills road are likely to be impassable. The river will continue rising Wednesday afternoon. From 20:00 27/11/2024 gardens of properties at Barcombe Mills could be affected by flood water. Only isolated showers are forecast Wednesday afternoon, Wednesday evening and through to Saturday. The river should begin to fall by 03:00 28/11/2024, and should return to normal by Thursday evening. River levels might end up similar to those seen in May 2024. Some roads may become impassable, please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding, including Barcombe Mills Road. Flood protection products are recommended to be installed in Barcombe, if you have them. We are operating our structures in Barcombe to help keep the river flowing freely and reduce flood risk.
