Flooding is possible - be prepared

Flood alert for Middle River Roding

Get flood warnings by phone, text or email

High river levels today may lead to flooding.

Flooding is possible on Sunday 1 February and overnight into Monday 2 February. River levels have stayed high as water flows down the river system but are expected to drop overnight into Monday 2 February. The Roding catchment has avoided the worst of the rain today so this should not impact river levels.

Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near the river around Abridge and Loughton.

We are closely monitoring the situation.

Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.

This message will be updated by 11:00 on Monday 2 February 2026 or as the situation changes.

Flood alert area: The Middle River Roding including Abridge, Loughton, Brookhouse Brook and Buckhurst Hill.
