High river levels today may lead to flooding. 

Flooding is possible on 27 January 2026 . River levels continue to be high in places. 

Areas most at risk are low lying roads and riverside areas around Haverhill, Clare and Sudbury, including Kedington, Sturmer, Steeple Bumpstead, Cavendish, Bridge Street and Long Melford. It is likely that we may need to issue more warning messages for a wider area, over the next few hours. 

We are monitoring rainfall and river levels . 

Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses .

Flood alert area: The upper Stour and surrounding tributaries, at Little Yeldham, Steeple Bumpstead, Haverhill, Kedington, Glemsford and Brockley, to and including, Sudbury.
