Flood alert for River Wreake in Leicestershire

River levels are rising at the Frisby river gauge as a result of recent rainfall and snowmelt. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including at Mill Lane and Water Lane at Frisby on the Wreake, Rearsby Road at Thrussington, Broome Lane at Ratcliffe on the Wreake, Frisby, Hoby, Brooksby, Thrussington, Ratcliffe, Syston, Melton, Asfordby including Station Lane and Ratcliffe on the Wreake including Broome Lane.

No further rainfall is forecast today, however more rainfall is forecast tomorrow, 11/01/2026. River levels at the Frisby gauge have risen and remain high due to the nature of the catchment. We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring snowmelt over the next few days. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water . This message will be updated by 09:00AM on 11 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
