Flood warning for River Ouse at York - St George's Field and Queen's Staith

River levels in York are peaking, but remain high today, Thursday 11th December 2025.

Locations most affected will include properties on Queen's Staith and St George's Field Car Park.

The Foss Barrier is operating, and flood gates in York have been closed. We expect levels to begin falling slowly later on Thursday and into Friday.

We are closely monitoring the situation. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.

This message will be updated by 4:00PM on 11th December 2025 or as the situation changes.

Flood warning area: Properties along Queen's Staith, on South Esplanade, Friars Terrace and Tower Place. St George's Field carpark and Rowntree Park.
