Get flood warnings by phone, text or email

High river levels today may lead to flooding.

Flooding is possible from the morning of 23 January 2026 , overnight into Saturday 24th January.

Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers, particularly footpaths around Yarm.

All flood gates in Yarm are being closed from midday today, with the exception of the public access gates at Sainsbury's and at Yarm Wharf. We anticipate that the remaining gates will be closed from 5pm this evening. The gates will remain closed overnight and access to riverside footpaths will be restricted.

We are closely monitoring the situation .

Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses
