Flood warning for South Cornwall coast from Lizard Point to Gribbin Head excluding the Tidal Fal Estuary

Flooding is expected over the high tide on Tuesday evening.

High water at Falmouth is at 19:14, times of high water will vary along the coast. High water levels are forecast to cause flooding between 18:00 and 20:30.

Low lying coastal communities are particularly at risk including Mevagissey, Portmellon, St Mawes, Swanpool, East Portholland, Par, and Polkerris.

Take care near the coast. Do not walk or drive through flood water or waves.

Coastal conditions should ease by Wednesday morning. However, a flood alert remains in force, with flooding to low lying land and roads still possible over Wednesday’s high tides.

We are monitoring the situation and will update this information by midday on Wednesday, or if the situation changes.

Detailed tidal information; The forecast high tide level at Falmouth is 2.83 mAOD. Expect tide levels to be around 0.2m above tide table level. Force 6 southerly winds and offshore wave heights of around 2.7m are forecast over the high tide.

Flood warning area: Lizard Point to Gribbin Head including Coverack, the tidal Helford Estuary, Falmouth, St Mawes, Gorran Haven, Portmellon, Mevagissey, Pentewan and Par.
