Flooding is possible - be prepared

Flood alert for River Yeo and River Parrett Moors around Muchelney and Thorney

The River Yeo level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is currently 7.69m and stable. The drain level at Huish Episcopi pumping station is 7.19m and falling slowly. Flooding will affect the road from Langport to Muchelney if the drain level exceeds 7.30m, the road from Muchelney to Long load above 7.86m, and the road from Muchelney to Thorney above 7.93m.

We are pumping at Huish Episcopi and Westover stations when river levels allow.

A band of rain, at times heavy, is forecast through this afternoon and early evening, Monday, 04/03/2024. The catchments are saturated, and the Yeo and Parrett rivers will remain high and responsive to further rain. This may cause water to enter the Moors again.

We continue to monitor the situation, and staff are checking the condition of flood banks and other defences. Please refer to @TravelSomerset for information on local road closures, and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.

This message will be updated by 2:00 PM on Tuesday, 05/03/2024, or as the situation changes.

Flood alert area: River Yeo and River Parrett Moors including access from Langport, Law Lane from Drayton, Law Lane from Thorney, Wetmoor Lane from Long Load and properties in Muchelney, Muchelney Ham and Thorney.
