Flood alert for West Somerset Streams

Get flood warnings by phone, text or email

River levels across West Somerset remain high on Monday 26th January, particularly on the Washford River. Flooding is possible as a result.

Areas most at risk include the Horner Water, River Aller, Washford River and the Hawkcombe, Monksilver and Doniford Streams and their tributaries, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected.

Monday morning will be dry, however a period of heavy and persistent rain is forecast from mid-afternoon onwards. This will continue overnight and into Tuesday morning.

We are closely monitoring the situation and Field Teams are out clearing debris screens and checking rivers for blockages. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Remain aware of local water levels and weather conditions and don’t put yourself or others at risk.

This message will be updated by 1PM on 27/01/2026, or as the situation changes.
