Flood alert for Lower Tone and Parrett Moors

The River Tone level at Currymoor pumping station is 7.45 m. High-tides are affecting levels but overall it is falling slowly. Water will enter Currymoor reservoir via Hookbridge spillway whilst this level exceeds 7.45m.

The drain level at Currymoor pumping station is 6.17 m and rising slowly. Cutts Road floods when this level is above 5.75m, and New Road when the level is above 6.18m. There is a risk of water overtopping Haymoor flood storage area and affecting Curload and Stan Moor if this level reaches 8.30m.

Be aware that Cutts Road is closed. Please refer to www.somerset.gov.uk/roads-travel-and-parking/emergency-road-closure-gates

Weather conditions are forecast to remain largely dry for the next few days.

We are currently pumping at both Northmoor and Saltmoor stations, and will start pumping at Currymoor as soon as the river level allows. We are continually monitoring the situation, and staff are checking the condition of flood banks, spillways and weed screens.
