Flood alert for East Somerset Rivers
Get flood warnings by phone, text or email
The upper reaches of the Rivers Brue and Sheppey are currently at typical winter levels, however considerable water remains on the moors and in the rivers downstream of Glastonbury. This may lead to flooding on Tuesday 10th February and overnight into Wednesday 11th. Catchments are saturated and rivers remain very responsive to rainfall.
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Brue and River Sheppey, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around the B3151 Glastonbury to Meare Road. Overtopping is forecast from the Glastonbury Millstream and the River Brue at North Drain and Westhay.
Further bands of rainfall are expected during Tuesday 10th February and through Wednesday. The outlook remains unsettled with further rain over the coming days, turning cooler and potentially drier on Friday and Saturday.
We are continuing to closely monitor the rainfall and river levels. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 1PM on 11th February 2026 or as the situation changes.
Flood alert area: Rivers Brue, Sheppey, Glastonbury Millstream and North and South Drains.
