Flooding is possible - be prepared

Flood alert for River Piddle and tributaries

Get flood warnings by phone, text or email

River levels continue to be high at Briantspuddle river gauge as a result of the ground being saturated. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. We expect flooding to affect the Piddle and tributaries between Alton Pancras and Wareham. A Flood Alert remains in force for the wider area, so flooding of roads and low lying land is still possible. There is no rainfall predicted for the next 2 days with small totals possible from Thursday 6th March into the weekend. We continue to monitor river levels. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. Monitor local water levels and weather conditions. This message will be updated by 4:00 PM on 06/03/2025, or as the situation changes.

Flood alert area: Tributaries between Alton Pancras and Wareham.
