Flood alert for Lower Frome and tributaries

Get flood warnings by phone, text or email

This is a Flood Alert Update. River levels are falling steadily, but continue to remain high at the Stinsford river gauge as a result of the recent rainfall. Flooding could still affect locations near the Lower Dorset Frome tributaries between Dorchester and Wareham, with low lying land and roads near rivers expected to be most affected. Further rainfall is expected this week which will keep river levels high. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, and do not attempt to walk, cycle or drive through flood water. People in this area should continue to monitor local water levels and weather conditions. This message will be updated by 1:00PM on 5 February 2026 or as the situation changes.

Flood alert area: Tributaries between Dorchester and Wareham.
