Flood alert for Lower Avon and tributaries

This is a flood alert update. River levels remain high. Flooding is still possible. Areas most at risk include tributaries between Ringwood and Christchurch. Flooding is possible as river levels react to rainfall, with low lying land and roads near rivers particularly around Ringwood Old Cottage affected. Further rain is expected today and over the next few days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, and do not attempt to walk, cycle or drive through flood water. Never drive through flood water, just 30cm of fast flowing water is enough to move your car. This message will be updated by 14:00AM on 6 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
