Flood alert for Lower Avon and tributaries

This is a flood alert update. River levels are dropping, but remain higher than normal in the Lower Avon and responsive to further rainfall. Flooding is still possible. Areas most at risk include the tributaries between Ringwood and Christchurch. Flooding is possible as river levels react to rainfall, with low lying land and roads near rivers particularly around Ringwood Old Cottage affected. It will remain dry today but rain is forecast for Thursday and Friday which may impact river levels. We will continue to monitor the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, and do not attempt to walk, cycle or drive through flood water. Never drive through flood water, just 30cm of fast flowing water is enough to move your car. This message will be updated by 10:00 AM on 26 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
