High groundwater levels are causing flooding. Groundwater levels in the Salisbury Plain area are beginning to fall but remain high. Areas that could be affected include: Tilshead, Orcheston, Shrewton, Berwick St James and Stapleford. The groundwater level at the Tilshead borehole is at 97.32m, and is expected to fall slowly. The forecast is for some rainfall in the next few days which may cause some response in groundwater fed rivers. Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. Residents may experience inundation of septic tanks and sewer systems. Properties may experience flooding in cellars in affected areas. We are closely monitoring the situation. If you have a pump, make sure it is working and switched on. Think about alternative power sources in case of power cuts. This message will be updated by 4:00PM on 30th March 2026 or as the situation changes.
