Flooding is possible in the West Dorset area
Groundwater levels are rising in response to recent heavy rainfall. Levels may continue to rise and flooding of fields and roads is possible. Levels are reactive to further rainfall. Some further rainfall is expected Friday and across the weekend which may see levels react further. Where groundwater is near the surface, intense rainfall will lead to surface water flooding. We are closely monitoring the situation . Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed.

Flood alert area: Bridport, Chideock, Martinstown, Milborne St. Andrew, Nottington, Piddlehinton, Piddletrenthide, Upwey, Winterborne Abbas, Winterborne Kingston, Winterborne Steepleton, Winterborne Stickland, Winterborne Whitechurch and Winterborne Zelston.
