Flood alert for Groundwater flooding in the West of Dorset

A Groundwater Flood Alert remains in place for the West of Dorset. Levels are still slowly dropping but remain high and are over the Flood Alert thresholds. The Groundwater level at Kingston Russell was 114.28 metres earlier this morning, 6th April 2026, and property flooding is possible when it goes above 116.00 metres. Flooding of fields and roads is still possible. Groundwater levels remain responsive to further rainfall. Where groundwater is near the surface, intense rainfall will lead to surface water flooding. We are closely monitoring the situation. Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. This message will be updated by 11:30AM on 13th April 2026 or as the situation changes.
Flood alert area: Bridport, Chideock, Martinstown, Milborne St. Andrew, Nottington, Piddlehinton, Piddletrenthide, Upwey, Winterborne Abbas, Winterborne Kingston, Winterborne Steepleton, Winterborne Stickland, Winterborne Whitechurch and Winterborne Zelston.
