Flood alert for Groundwater flooding in the Salisbury Plain area

Groundwater levels across Salisbury Plain remain exceptionally high meaning that flooding is possible after even moderate amounts of rainfall.

Our groundwater forecasts indicate that several sites will see a gradual increase over the next 3 days.

Groundwater Flood Warnings are now in force at many locations across the county.

Flooding of other roads is possible and septic tanks may not function effectively over the coming days.

Householders with property level protection measures such as pumps, barriers and air-brick covers should keep them in place until the risk recedes.

Environment Agency staff will continue to monitor the situation. This Flood Alert will remain in force for the next few days at least and will be updated should the forecast change.

Flood alert area: Boscombe, Cholderton, Collingbourne Ducis, Hanging Langford, Hindon, Hurdcott, Idmiston, Newton Tony, Orcheston, Porton, Salisbury, Shipton Bellinger, Shrewton, Stratford Sub Castle, Tidworth, Tilshead, Tisbury, Wilton, Winterbourne Stoke and Woodford.
