Cuckmere River flood alert area
The rivers through Hellingly have already fallen to near normal. Through Alfriston the Cuckmere River is still high, but is also slowly falling. During Friday 22/10/2021 water will remain in fields in Alfriston, and minor flood impacts could also affect North Street, Willows Car Park, River Lane, The Old Clergy House and Deans Place Hotel, Alfriston. The weather forecast is for 5 predominantly dry days, other than a chance of an isolated shower on Sunday and Monday. Minor residual flood impacts might remain, such as water in fields, gardens and on roads but these should continue to ease through the weekend. Please continue to plan to avoid driving through routes susceptible to flooding near Alfriston. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. We will reissue this message if the risk of flooding to properties increases.
