Flood alert for River Adur East Branch

Get flood warnings by phone, text or email

High river levels on Tuesday may lead to flooding.

Flooding is possible on 10 February 2026 as 10-15mm is forecast on Monday evening to Tuesday morning.

River levels have fallen since last week. However, if as much rain falls as predicted on Monday evening and early Tuesday, minor flooding could affect the A281 at Mock Bridge, near Shermanbury. As well as extensive water in fields, flooding could also affect gardens of properties near Mock Bridge and may begin to approach buildings too. More rainfall is expected on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday which could increase river levels and flood risk again. Only a small amount of rain is forecast on Thursday which should see river levels and flood risk begin to reduce from Thursday evening.

We are closely monitoring the situation .

Don't put yourself or others at risk . Avoid roads that flood, including the A281 at Mock Bridge.

This message will be updated by 8:00PM on 10 February 2026 or as the situation changes.

Flood alert area: The River Adur and tributaries from Burgess Hill to Henfield.
