Flood alert for River Alver

Get flood warnings by phone, text or email

High river levels on Thursday may lead to flooding.

Flooding is possible on 19 February 2026 , as a lot of rain (40mm) fell on 18/02/2026.

Flooding may be affecting Privett Road, as well as footpaths at Alver Country Park, especially near to Apple Dumpling Bridge. The outfall at Stokes Bay was cleared this morning (19/02/2026). Only a small amount of rain is forecast until Monday 23/02/2026. Overall, flood risk will reduce over the next couple of days. However, at the next high tide (forecast at 01:00 on 20/02/2026 at Portsmouth), tide-locking will cause the river level to rise again and further flooding impacts to roads and footpaths could occur.

We are closely monitoring the situation .

Avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded , including Privett Road.

This message will be updated by 6:00PM on 20 February 2026 or as the situation changes.

Flood alert area: River Alver from Rowner to the Sea.
