Flooding is possible - be prepared

Flood alert for Climping Seafront

Friday afternoon's tide at 13:30 on 29/03/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 5 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.35 m. However, the total tide is still forecast to be 40cm lower than the maximum of recent days. The total forecast tide is 5.76 metres Chart Datum (2.71 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high tide, minor flood impacts are expected. A small amount of water could affect land, fields, Climping Street Car Park, and may then flow or be directed westwards along Mill Lane (from the right of the East car park). Saturday's early morning tide at 01:45 on 30/03/2024 is forecast to be 5cm lower (2.65 mAOD), and accompanied by lighter winds. Despite strong winds returning next week, flood risk will be low for the next seven days. We continue to monitor the forecast and routinely check the condition of the beach at Climping. Access could be restricted during and after high tide. Take care if visiting Climping beach. We will update this message by 19:00 on 29/03/2024.
