Flood warning for Broadbridge Heath to Pallingham Quay on the River Arun

High river levels are causing flooding on Friday. 

Flooding is expected on 19 December 2025 , as a lot of rain (35mm) fell on Thursday.  

Flooding is affecting fields, gardens and isolated mill and farm properties between Broadbridge Heath and Pallingham Quay. The A272 Newbridge road near Billingshurst could be affected. River levels are now slowly falling near Wanford, but still slowly rising at Pallingham Quay. All locations will continue to be affected Friday. Very little rain is forecast over the next 5 days. At Pallingham, river levels and flood risk should begin to fall by 18:00 19/12/2025, but will not return nearer to normal until next week. Near Horsham, river levels should return near to normal by Saturday evening. 

We are closely monitoring the situation . 

Activate any flood protection products you may have . Including in Wanford, if you have them.
