Flood warning for Hellingly and Horsebridge on the Cuckmere and Bull Rivers

River levels are still high in Hellingly, following Wednesday's rain. The Cuckmere river has now fallen significantly, but minor flood impacts could remain in gardens, on roads, and in fields near Mill Lane Hellingly, as well as Grove Hill near Grovebridge Farm, and Hammer Lane near Cowbeech. The Bull River in Hellingly is very high, but now slowly falling. Flood impacts will continue to affect properties on Station Road, Church Lane and Church Road, Hellingly, as well as the roads and land. Only isolated showers are forecast Thursday, Friday, and over the weekend. River levels should continue to fall in Hellingly. River levels will also continue to fall Friday, and return near to normal by Saturday. However, unsettled weather could continue throughout February, so further periods of flood risk are possible. Don't put yourself or others at risk and avoid roads that flood (Mill Road and Church Road). This message will be updated by 20:00 20/02/2026.
