Flood warning for Freshfield Bridge to Sharpsbridge on the River Ouse

High river levels are expected to cause flooding on Friday. 

Flooding is expected on 16 January 2026 from 04:00, as a lot of rain (25mm) fell on Thursday. 

Flooding will affect properties and roads at Fletching Mill Bridge and Sharpsbridge. Gardens and fields will flood near Freshfield Mill Farm, Freshmill and Millers Cottages on Sloop Lane and Bridge Cottage, Sheffield Park. Only isolated showers are forecast until Monday. River levels and flood risk should begin to reduce near Sloop Lane by 04:00 16/01/2026, and 08:00 16/01/2026 at Sharpsbridge, returning nearer to normal by Saturday evening. 

We are closely monitoring the situation . 

Don't put yourself or others at risk Avoid roads that flood (Fletching Mill Bridge, Sharpsbridge).
