Flood alert for Groundwater flooding in the Candovers and Old Alresford
Groundwater levels are high, but falling very slowly. In Preston Candover, the level has fallen by 6cm in the last week. In Old Alresford, the level has fallen by 11cm. Cellar flooding is expected to be affecting properties in the Candovers, Northington, and Old Alresford. In Old Alresford, internal ground floor flooding is affecting isolated properties. Septic tanks will be struggling to operate effectively in all locations. Rain is forecast to affect Hampshire from today (25/04/2024) to Monday 29/04/2024, with some heavy spells possible over the weekend. It is possible that between 20 and 50mm of rain could be recorded during this time. Groundwater levels may begin to stabilise if heavy rain affects the area and could even rise slightly. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. If you have pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure that they are operating. This Flood Alert will be updated by 18:00 on Thursday 02/05/2024.
