Flooding is possible - be prepared

Flood alert for Nailbourne and Little Stour

Whilst over the last two weeks conditions have been markedly dryer, for the time being, river levels are likely to remain high on the Little Stour and Nailbourne following recent periods of rainfall. Flooding is expected to continue to affect low lying land and roads along the Nailbourne around Elham, Barham, Bridge and Bekesbourne, and on the Little Stour around Littlebourne and Wickhambreux. Please avoid driving or walking through floodwater. As of today, Thursday 28th March, the weather forecast for early April indicates conditions that might be wetter than those during the previous two weeks. As a result, high flows and high river levels are likely to remain for some time but depending on the weather going forward, those levels and flows might decline somewhat. We are actively monitoring the situation, liaising with partners, and our staff are maintaining and clearing key structures. The Littlebourne Flood Relief channel is operating. This message will be updated by 6pm on Thursday 4th April 2024, or as the situation changes.

Flood alert area: Communities on the Nailbourne, Little Stour and River Wingham, including Lyminge, Elham, Barham, Bridge, Bekesbourne, Littlebourne, Ickham, Wickhambreaux and Wingham.
