Flood alert for Groundwater flooding in East Kent

Rising groundwater levels may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible to low lying land, roads and properties with basements around these areas,
Petham Bourne, Alkham bourne and Nailbourne including Alkham, Elham, Barham, Bishopsbourne, Bridge, Patrixbourne and Bekesbourne. Groundwater levels in East Kent have been rising following significantly wetter conditions since January. Levels are continuing to increase in February in response to heavy rainfall.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Keep up to date with groundwater levels on the 'Check for Flooding' site on gov.uk . Riparian owners are reminded to keep rivers on their land clear.
