Flood alert for River Thames and tributaries in the Oxford area
Get flood warnings by phone, text or email
Property flooding is not currently expected.
River levels continue to rise slowly on the River Thames and its tributaries in the Oxford area. Flooding of roads and low-lying land is therefore likely, particularly in the New Botley area around the Bulstake Stream. Some rain is forecast for this morning (31/01/25), but clearing by this afternoon, and the forecast for the coming days is currently dry.
We expect river levels to continue to rise slowly over the coming 24 hours as water makes its way downstream, but then stabilise. Levels remain sensitive to further rainfall. We are monitoring the situation and operating weirs on the Thames to manage flood risk. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.
Go to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 01/02/25, or as the situation changes.
