Flooding is possible - be prepared

Flood alert for River Thames and its small tributaries from Calcutt to Lechlade

Property flooding is not currently expected. River levels along the top of the Thames and its small tributaries are high but now falling following recent rainfall. Flooding of low lying land and roads is expected to continue through today and overnight, 05/03/2024, especially in the Hannington Bridge area.

Scattered showers are forecast today, while this evening and overnight is expected to be mainly dry. River levels are expected to continue falling over the coming days but will remain high and sensitive to further rainfall.

We are monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. Be aware of water remaining on the floodplain. Go to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 06/03/2024, or as the situation changes.
