Flood alert for River Kennet from Thatcham down to Reading

Property flooding is not expected.

River levels are falling slowly on the lower River Kennet following recent rainfall and high groundwater levels. Flooding of low lying land and roads remains possible today. The forecast today, 25/04/2024 is mostly dry but with a chance of some showers developing through the afternoon. River levels are expected to continue slowly falling over the coming days, but remain sensitive to further rainfall.

We are closely monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. Go to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 26/04/2024, or as the situation changes.
