Flood alert for River Cherwell from Charwelton to just above Upper Heyford

No further property flooding is currently expected. River levels are high but falling steadily on the upper River Cherwell following recent rainfall. Flooding of low lying land and roads is expected to continue today, 08/01/25, particularly in areas downstream of Banbury.

The forecast is predominantly dry today and overnight into tomorrow. We expect river levels to continue falling over the coming days, but levels will remain sensitive to any further rain.

Go to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. This message will be updated tomorrow, 09/01/25, or as the situation changes.

Flood alert area: River Cherwell and its tributaries from Charwelton to just above Upper Heyford including Woodford Halse, Edgcote, Cropredy, Marston St Lawrence, Banbury, Kings Sutton, Hook Norton and Croughton.
