Property flooding is not currently expected.
River levels have stabilised on the River Cherwell between Lower Heyford and Oxford as a result of recent rainfall. However, flooding of roads and low lying land is expected to continue, particularly in areas closest to the river around Thrupp, Kidlington and Shipton-on-Cherwell. Some rain is forecast for this morning (31/01/25), but clearing by this afternoon, and the forecast for the coming days is currently dry.
We expect river levels to begin a slow fall later today. We are monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. Go to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. Do not drive through flood water. This message will be updated by tomorrow morning, 01/02/2025, or as the situation changes.
