Flood warning for River Thames and tributaries at New Botley, New Hinksey, North Hinksey, South Hinksey and Grandpont

Property flooding is expected. River levels are rising steadily on the River Thames following heavy rainfall from Storm Bert. Therefore, flooding of property and roads is expected from about 04.00 tomorrow, 26/11/24. Levels are expected to be higher than January 2024. Areas most at risk are Monmouth Road, Peel Place, Earl Street, Western Road, Duke Street, Buckingham Street, Folly Bridge, Wytham Street, West Way, Bulstake Close and Abingdon Road​.

The forecast is for a predominantly dry night with further rainfall forecast from tomorrow night (26/11/2024) into Wednesday. River levels are expected to continue to rise steadily overnight and through the day tomorrow. We are monitoring the situation. The temporary defences at Hinksey Lakes are planned to be deployed from tomorrow morning. Our staff are liaising with councils and emergency services. Move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety. Activate any property flood protection products such as flood barriers. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 26/11/24, or earlier as the situation changes.
