Property flooding is expected. River levels are rising on the River Kennet as a result of heavy rainfall from Storm Bert. Therefore, flooding of property and roads is expected today, 25/11/2024, especially in the areas closest to the River Kennet in Burfield, Theale, Calcot and Reading, including properties on Burfield Street. We expect river levels to continue rising today and will remain high over the coming days as water moves downstream.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety. Activate any property flood protection products such as flood barriers. Flood warning area: Properties closest to the River Kennet between Shenfield Mill, Theale and Reading town centre including, Burghfield Lock, Burghfield Bridge, Bear Wharf and Kings Road areas and those closest to the Holy Brook in Calcot, Southcote and Coley areas.
