Flood warning for River Ock at Abingdon and Caldecott

Property flooding is possible. River levels are rising steadily on the River Ock following heavy rainfall from Storm Bert. Therefore, flooding of property and roads is possible from later this evening, 25/11/24. Levels are expected to be similar to those seen in January 2024. Areas most at risk are properties located closest to the River Ock on Mill Paddock, Orpwood Way, St Helens Mill, Nash Drive.
The forecast is for a predominantly dry night with further rainfall forecast from tomorrow night (26/11/2024) into Wednesday. River levels are expected to continue to rise over the coming hours before stabilising early tomorrow morning and then starting to fall. However levels may rise again in response to the rainfall forecast over the next two days. Our staff are liaising with councils and emergency services. Move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety. Activate any property flood protection products such as flood barriers. Do not drive through flood water. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 26/11/24, or earlier as the situation changes.
Flood warning area: River Ock at Abingdon, from New Cut Mill down to the confluence with the Thames, including the Ely close, Shepherd Gardens, Medlicott Drive, Tower Close, Ock Street, Francis Little Drive, Hermitage Road and St. Amand Drive as well as parts of Caldecott.
