Flood alert for Lower Nene

Get flood warnings by phone, text or email

Over the last 48 hours we have seen heavy rainfall in the River Nene catchment. This means that the Lower River Nene is now rising, and will continue to rise over the next few days, which will lead to flooding of low-lying land and roads close to the river from this evening, Monday 25th November. Flooding to gardens, driveways or outhouses is possible close to the river. Our forecasts indicate that flooding inside properties is likely, and therefore flood warnings are expected to be issued from tomorrow. We are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff in the field checking for blockages and clearing weedscreens. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated online and on FloodLine on Tuesday, 26th November, or before if the situation changes.

Flood alert area: River Nene between Wansford and the Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice to the east of Peterborough.
