Flood alert for The tidal Rivers Bure, Ant and Thurne
Get flood warnings by phone, text or email
This message has been issued because some minor flooding to riverside roads and footpaths is possible over the next two high tides. This includes this afternoon's tide, Tuesday 4th March, and overnight tonight into Wednesday 5th March, up to around 6:00am. This is due to a natural tide-locking effect, and tidal water moving up the rivers from Great Yarmouth, which is restricting the normal drainage of the Broads river system out to sea at low tide. We expect to see high water levels around Potter Heigham, Wroxham boat yards and Ferry Road in Horning. We are not currently expecting the situation to escalate, or to issue any further warning messages at this time. Take care on waterside roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. We are closely monitoring the situation. We will update this message by 10:30am tomorrow morning, Wednesday 5th March, or as the situation changes.
Flood alert area: The tidal Rivers Bure from Wroxham Bridge, Ant from Honing and Thurne from Hickling, to Breydon Water.
