Flooding is possible - be prepared

Flood alert for Minor watercourses of the South Forty Foot Drain

Get flood warnings by phone, text or email

Over the last 48 hours we have seen heavy rainfall in the South Forty Foot Drain catchment area. This means that the South Forty Foot Drain and its tributaries have risen, leading to flooding of low-lying land and roads close to the river. No further rain is forecast for the next few days, however we expect the river to remain high and flooding to gardens, driveways or outhouses is possible close to the river. Our forecasts indicate that flooding inside properties is possible and therefore flood warnings have been issued. We are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff in the field checking for blockages and clearing weedscreens. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated online and on FloodLine by 08/01/2025, or before if the situation changes.

Flood alert area: Isolated properties and villages in low lying areas west of the South Forty Foot Drain from north Heckington to Bourne, including property at Northbeck, Scredlington, Spanby, Swaton, Osbournby, Haconby and Spanby.
