Flooding is possible - be prepared

Flood alert for Barlings Eau and Duckpool Catchwater

Get flood warnings by phone, text or email

Over the last few days we have seen heavy rainfall in the Barlings Eau and Duckpool Catchwater area. This means that the rivers have risen, leading to flooding of low-lying land and roads close to the rivers. No further rain is forecast for the next few days, however we expect the river to remain high and flooding to gardens, driveways or outhouses is possible close to the rivers. Our forecasts indicate that flooding inside properties is possible and therefore flood warnings have been issued. We are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff in the field checking for blockages and clearing weedscreens. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated online and on FloodLine on 09/01/25, or before if the situation changes.

Flood alert area: Barlings Eau and Tributaries from Langworth to Short Ferry and Duckpool Catchwater from Gautby to Stixwould. Tributaries may also affect Welton, Dunholme, and Scothern.
