Flooding is expected - act now

Flood warning for Ash Brook, Ippollitts Brook and River Purwell at Hitchin, Ashbrook, Little Wymondley and Graveley

River levels are high in response to recent heavy rainfall. Flooding is still possible for the next few days while the rivers drain away from high peak levels. Areas most at risk are Woolgrove Road, Green Lane, Purwell Lane, Brook View, Ninesprings Way and Oakfield Avenue in Hitchin, Stevenage Road in Ashbrook, Stevenage Road, Priory Lane and Elms Close in Little Wymondley, High Street and Church Lane in Graveley.

The forecast is for dry weather for the next two days. Take care on riverside roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. We are monitoring the situation and will update this message by 5pm today, Saturday 28 September 2024.
