Rising river levels may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible from 09 January 2026 . Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads around the Black Brook at Shepshed, the Grace Dieu Brook, Burleigh Brook, Wood Brook, Grammar School Brook, Hermitage Brook, Sileby Brook, Long Whatton Brook, King’s Brook and Kingston Brook. Storm Goretti brings the possibility of flooding due to heavy rainfall and snow over the past 24 hours. River levels at Shepshed Gauge are rising rapidly due to the nature of the catchment. We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring snowmelt over the next few days. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water . This message will be updated by 09:00AM on 10 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
