Flooding is possible - be prepared

Flood alert for Loughborough urban watercourses and local tributaries to the River Soar

Get flood warnings by phone, text or email

Small, flashier rivers and streams may respond to heavy rainfall as a result of the continued risk of localised thunderstorms passing through the area. This message has been issued pre-emptively as a result of today’s forecasted localised thunderstorms, expected until 21:00 on 21/07/25. Given the unpredictable nature of thunderstorms, there is low confidence in the locations and impacts of rainfall at this point. Areas most at risk are low lying agricultural land, roads and footpaths close to small rivers and streams. Water levels could rise rapidly and potentially generate deep, fast flows.

Thunderstorms are forecast to continue into the evening, 21/07/2025.

We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are patrolling watercourses in the area.

Please plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid contact with flood water.

To check the status of road closures online, please visit the One Network live map.

This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 22/07/25, or as the situation changes.
