Flood alert for River Trent in Derbyshire

Rising river levels today may lead to flooding. 

Flooding is possible from the evening of 29 November 2025 . 

Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including Willington, Barrow upon Trent, Swarkestone, Bargate Lane, and the access roads to Willington Meadows, the Twyford Village access road, Church Lane at Barrow, and Ingleby Lane. Rainfall is forecast into this evening, 29/11/2025. Further rainfall is forecast for Monday 01/12/2025. River levels at Shardlow Gauge will continue to rise until tomorrow morning, 30/11/2025, and will remain high but steady throughout the day. Levels may rise further on Monday, in response to additional rainfall. 

We are closely monitoring the situation . 

Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water .
