Flood alert for River Trent in Derbyshire

High river levels today may lead to flooding. Flooding continues to pose a risk. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including Willington, Barrow upon Trent, Swarkestone, Bargate Lane, and the access roads to Willington Meadows, the Twyford Village access road, Church Lane at Barrow, and Ingleby Lane. No further rainfall is forecast. River levels at Shardlow Gauge and Willington Gauge remain high. We are closely monitoring the situation. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water & avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses. This message will be updated by 09:00 on 20 December 2025 or as the situation changes.
