Flooding is possible - be prepared

Flood alert for Upper Avon River Swift and Clay Coton Brook

River levels are continuing to remain high, but are falling slowly, at the Lilbourne river gauge as a result of the recent heavy rainfall. Consequently, the risk of flooding is reducing. Flooding is affecting low-lying land and roads adjacent to River Avon between Stanford and Rugby, River Swift between Cosford and Rugby and Clay Coton Brook between Yelvertoft and Lilbourne. Further light rainfall is forecast over the next few days. River levels could respond quickly to even small amounts of new rainfall, as the catchments are now saturated, so this Flood Alert remains in force overnight (08/12/2021). We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This Flood Alert may be removed tomorrow morning (09/12/2021), if the river level has continued to fall overnight, but this will be based on an updated weather forecast the morning (09/12/2021).
