Flood warning for River Wye from Hay to Hereford

River levels are rising at the Hay-On-Wye river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding (of property) is imminent. We expect flooding to affect properties and roads in and around Hay and Hereford areas including the A438 between Letton and Willersley and Whitney on Wye. Predicted peaks:- Hay on Wye 2.9m to 4.2m Sunday afternoon, 24/11, Bredwardine 5.8m to 6.0m Sunday evening, 24/11.
Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours. We expect river levels to remain elevated over the next few days.
We are closely monitoring the situation.
Please activate any property flood protection products you may have, such as flood barriers and air brick covers and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
