Flood alert for Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck

River and lake levels are currently falling. However, further rainfall today Wednesday (17/12/2025), and overnight, on already wet ground conditions, will see levels rise again this afternoon and overnight.
Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near the rivers Duddon, Crake, Mill Beck and other watercourses from Coniston to Barrow-in-Furness including low lying areas around Ulpha, Duddon Bridge, Broughton in Furness, Kirkby-in-Furness, Dalton in Furness and Ulverston.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths, bridges near local watercourses and do not drive through flood water.
